Our Cataloging Process:
Initial Sorting: Items are grouped by type, value, and category—antiques, jewelry, collectibles, tools, and more.
Detailed Descriptions: Each lot receives a thorough written description, including dimensions, materials, maker’s marks, condition notes, and provenance (if known).
Photography: High-resolution images are taken from multiple angles, highlighting unique features and any flaws.
Research & Valuation: We consult price guides, auction results from platforms like LiveAuctioneers and Invaluable, and reference books such as Kovels’ Antiques & Collectibles Price Guide.
Lot Number Assignment: Every item is assigned a unique lot number for easy reference in our online and printed catalogs.
Appraisal Considerations:
Market Value: We assess recent sales of similar items and current demand.
Condition & Authenticity: Originality, repairs, and wear are documented and factored into value.
Specialist Input: For rare or high-value items, we consult certified appraisers or subject-matter experts.
Why This Matters:
A detailed, honest catalog builds bidder confidence and maximizes sale results for consignors. If you’re interested in consigning, we offer complimentary initial assessments—contact us to schedule a review.
